Paul Sinton Hewitt, parkrun founder, who will be starting the races said “I am honoured to be part of the team starting the races at the ABP Southampton Marathon, Half Marathon, 10k and Fun Run this year.
“It's fantastic to see the event go off first hand in a city as impressive as Southampton, with the second largest Parkrun in the UK. I can't wait to be a part of it!”
Heart’s breakfast DJ, Zoe Hanson, said “I’ve decided to run again this year in my home town after I had such a great time last year on the half marathon. All the support around the course was outstanding, loved it.
“I’ve fallen in and out of love with running my entire life and have been doing it since school. Recently I took it back up after I had my daughter as an easy to do whenever you like exercise. The ABP Southampton marathon is wonderful, a great course, what a buzz to go over the Itchen bridge and through St Mary’s stadium. And the thousands that turn out to cheer everyone on really show what a great city this is that we live in.”
Franny Benali, who will be finishing his final Ironman with the ABP Southampton Marathon said “I am delighted to be taking part in the ABP Southampton Marathon once again this year for a number of reasons:
“It will signify the last marathon of my 7 Ironman distance triathlons in 7 days.
“It is also a great way to run around my home city with thousands of other people.
“It promotes a healthy activity as well as being a platform for people to raise funds for charity, all within a safe and fun event.”
