Today we have announced that our partnership with title sponsors ABP Southampton will continue for another four years, which will secure the UK’s leading port operator as title sponsor for at the first 10 years of the Southampton Marathon, Half and 10K.
ABP have been a fantastic partner helping to support the event itself as well as the renowned ‘ABP Mile Makers’ by offering a £250 donation to groups of 20 or more. These groups have previously included sports teams, scout groups and other organisations who all bring such noise and enthusiasm to the city on race day.
The event has grown massively since the first year and ABP has been a large part of that success with their backing to get the event to the stage where it attracts near 10,000 runners per year and sees £1million brought into the local economy.
Nikki Rees, Managing Director of ReesLeisure, said: “We are delighted to continue our partnership with ABP as headline sponsors of the ABP Southampton Marathon, for what will become a decade of working together. The event wouldn’t be possible without ABP and the support that they provide for the ABP MileMaker groups makes such a big difference each year. Our MileMakers [marshals] are fantastic and it’s often fed back that this is the best supported race in the UK. At ReesLeisure we’re all incredibly grateful for the support received from ABP Southampton, and our ABP MileMakers.”
ABP Regional Director for Southampton, Alastair Welch, said: “We are excited to be involved in this major sporting event in the city, which provides vital support for local community groups, benefitting local people. ABP is proud to extend our partnership for the next four years.”
