ABP Mile Makers

Want to join the ABP Southampton Mile Makers?

The ABP Southampton Marathon, Half & 10k could not happen without our wonderful volunteers!

In 2018 we had over 850 volunteers helping us marshal the course, working in the baggage hall, managing the water stations and handing out those all important medals!

If you would like to get involved in this event but don't fancy running - here's how:

  • Marshal one, get one free. Marshal in 2019, run for free in 2020.

We love to have local groups helping out managing areas such as the baggage hall or water stations, as well as marshalling a mile.

In return ABP Southampton Marathon will donate £250 to your charity or community group. e.g. Guides & Scouts, Women's Institute, Running Clubs or Church Groups.

This is an opportunity to raise awareness of your group by cheering on the runners with your branded flags and banners! We also welcome road-side entertainment, so let us know if you can supply a band, choir or group of cheerleaders!

All of your volunteers will receive hi-vis jackets to mark them out for the day. The leader of the group will be required to attend a briefing ahead of race day.

We have 13.1 miles to cover and you will need a minimum of 20 people to gain the £250. This will be awarded in the form of a cheque to your group after the event by one of the Marafun team on behalf of ABP Southampton.

There will be opportunities to showcase your club, group or cause as each of our ABP Mile Makers will have a blog post, pictures and posts on facebook, twitter on our e-newsletters.

All the above sessions will be held at The Spark Building, Southampton Solent University, East Park Terrace.
